Unlimited music for iPod on way?

New reports have emerged that Apple are thinking about introduced a new offer which would see iPod users offered unlimited music on iTunes.

According to the Financial Times, the electronics company are talking to music companies over a deal which would see iPod users given access to all of the content on the online music store in exchange for paying a premium on the music players.

The newspaper has stated that Apple is yet to comment on the proposals, but sources told the publication that discussions with the music industry are based on the price that would be paid to record labels.

It has been reported that Apple have offered companies a premium of $20 (£10) per device, which is significantly lower than the amount being offered by phone company Nokia in a similar deal with Universal Music.

The reports come after Apple revealed that the launch of its software development kit for the iPod touch and iPhone has been successful.

Over 100,000 developers have downloaded the software, which allows companies to create applications for use on the two devices.
