New iPod-compatible in-car system unveiled
Electronics firm Pioneer has unveiled an in-car navigation and entertainment unit that is compatible with iPods and other portable devices.
The AVIC-F500BT is an all-in-one "complete audio and visual experience", which can be used to control all of a driver's devices from inside the car, product planning manager Paul Baddeley explained.
"There is nothing like AVIC-F500BT on the market. It is the world's first navigation system to have all the features and power of a fixed in-car system with the flexibility of a portable device," he said.
As well as iPods and other entertainment systems, the AVIC-F500BT can be connected to a camera. Pictures from the camera can then be displayed on its in-dash screen to make parking easier.
The device can connect to entertainment devices via a USB port or it can be loaded with SD memory cards.
Pioneer states that the system is compatible with the most models of car.
