Apple leads in Brandchannel awards
Apple has dominated the first brandjunkie awards winning six prizes including most inspiring brand and brand which readers cannot live without, it has been announced.
In the awards, voted for by readers of Brandchannel, an leading online discussion forum about branding, the company's position as an innovator, one that transcends industry boundaries about how we use products, was the major reason behind its success.
By contrast Microsoft was identified as a company that needed to be rebranded with some voters saying it had lost its boldness and become a 'follower'.
Jim Thompson, Brandchannel editor, said that the awards are designed to recognize the companies which "redefine how we engage in a world saturated with brands".
Toyota and Sony received top 20 placements from readers as the brand that will revolutionize the branding industry in five years, most inspirational, and brand with which most people identify.
Meanwhile according to the Bank of America, Apple is anticipated to produce an estimated eight million 3G-enabled iPhones between May and September this year.
