iPods in space
Images beamed down from the Zvezda Service Module of the International Space Station reveal that iPods have made it into space.
While pictures show European Space Agency astronaut Thomas Reiter, expedition 14 flight engineer, working on new experiments, closer inspection shows that an iPod has been attached to a Belkin battery pack near by, reports SpaceRef.com.
However, iPods have been in space before with Anousheh Ansari, the first female private space explorer, reporting in her blog that she used the device while on her recent mission into space, the Age reports.
"I was able to locate my iPod in my bag and I was a happy camper … I put on my headphones and went to sleep in my Bat sack," she remarked.
The experiments being undertaken by the astronauts aboard the space station are to identify the effect weightlessness has on the cardiovascular and respiratory systems of the crew members.
