Nike + iPod runners clock up 1m miles
Runners have logged over one million miles since the Nike + iPod experience was launched ten weeks ago.
The Nike + iPod Sport Kit is a wireless system that communicates between Nike-enabled trainers and the iPod nano, storing data such as time, distance, calories burned and pace taken which can then be downloaded through iTunes to Nikeplus.com.
"Nikeplus.com is fast becoming the world's biggest online running community," said Trevor Edwards, Nike's chief marketing officer.
He added: "Nike + is a new running experience, a new way to train, a new way to connect with other runners and a new way to bring music and sport together like never before."
Already established in the UK, Canada and the US, Nike + is set to launch in France, Spain, Italy, Germany and the Netherlands in addition to Japan and Australia.
Sports personalities such as Paula Radcliffe and Lance Armstrong feature on the nikeplus.com website, stating the importance of music for inspiring athletic achievement.
