New figures released by Apple have suggested that a host of new applications could soon be available for the iPod touch and the iPhone.
The electronics firm has announced that more than 100,000 developers have downloaded the Software Development Kit (SDK) for the two devices in around four days.
By using the kits, companies can use the same application programming interfaces and tools as Apple to create programs for use on the systems.
Scott Rubin, vice president of sales and marketing for Namco Networks, said: "We're very excited about Apple's new SDK and reaching every iPhone user through the new App Store.
"We can't wait to show off great new versions of arcade classics like Pac-Man and Galaga that use the revolutionary features of the iPhone and iPod touch."
News on the success of the SDK downloads has come several weeks after Apple launched new versions of the two devices.
The new iPod touch and iPhone models feature double the memory of previous versions.
