US company Monster has announced that it is now shipping a new device designed to make it easier for people to listen to their iPod through a hi-fi.

The consumer electronics firm's iSoniCast Wireless Audio Bridge connects to the portable music player and allows a user to enjoy their favourite tunes on a home stereo system.

In addition, the device also allows iPod owners to control their tunes using the music player, meaning people can skip through songs they don't want to listen to very easily.

Noel Lee, the head of Monster, said: "The iSoniCast is also incredibly easy to hook up, and the smart low-power consumption lets you listen for extended periods."

He added that the audio bridge was "the ultimate solution for wireless iPod playback on a home audio system."

The launch of the iPod accessory has come after One Voice Technologies launched a new voice-activated control system for the portable music player.

By using the VoiceTunes technology, people can playback songs from their favourite artists just by saying their name.
