A new protective casing which is made from aluminium has been released for the iPod nano 3G.

RhinoSkin has announced that its new protective covering for the music player features the metal on its back, in order to increase the durability of the design.

In addition, the new case also features a shatterproof polycarbonate front covering, which protects the front of the iPod nano from scratches, as well as general wear and tear.

The casing also provides a user with full access to all of the portable devices controls, including the headphone jack and dock connector.

Commenting on the designs, Kelley Wheeler, the marketing manager for RhinoSkin, said: "People take their iPods nearly everywhere and we want them to be able to protect their investment and enjoy music and video anywhere they go."

The release of RhinoSkin's new case has come after iLounge.com reported that Imoeba has also launched a new eco-friendly iPod casing, which consists of around 90 per cent recycled materials.
