A number of iPod touch users have revealed that they do not think they should have to pay for Apple's new updates for the portable device.
In a poll by Pocket-Lint.co.uk, 77 per cent of respondents said they did not want to pay the $20 (around £10) cost of the new software, which allows users to access email and weather report applications on the entertainment player.
Many users feel it is unfair they have to pay for desire to use the features, which will be included on iPod touch models purchased from this month.
Speaking to website, a spokesperson for Apple defended the decision saying: "With the iPod touch the new applications represent a significant upgrade to existing functionality adding communications capability to the world's best iPod."
Apple's chief executive Steve Jobs unveiled the new features at the MacWorld Expo in San Francisco earlier this week.
He said that the applications are helping the company evolve the touch into "the first mainstream Wi-Fi mobile platform of the 21st century".
