A leading iPod accessories manufacturer has unveiled an alarm clock which is compatible with the portable music player.

XtremeMac revealed its design for the Luna X2, a fully featured alarm system with high-end audio technology, at the MacWorld Expo in San Francisco this week.

The company claims that the new device's audio system is powerful enough to act as a stand alone speaker system in a room, while users can adjust volume, alarm settings and the brightness of the product's display with a minimum of fuss.

In addition, the Luna X2 features AM and FM radio facilties, meaning owners do not necessarily need an iPod to use the system.

The new device is set to retail for $119.95 (£61) in the US.

XtremeMac's new alarm clock has been released after Atlantic recently unveiled a system which allows iPod owners to easily enjoy their favourite tunes in the shower.

The company's waterproof sound case enables a user to safely use their iPod in a wet environment, including on a boat.
