iPod to become ultimate accessory for pregnant women?

The iPod could be set to become the ultimate accessory for prospective parents wanting to show off scans of their unborn children to friends and family.

Portland Hospital in London is offering pregnant women the chance to download high definition ultrasound pictures of their babies onto their portable music player so they can easily enjoy carrying around photos of their offspring.

The new pictures are formed by using "4D" technology which uses multiple beams to create depth in the imaging, meaning parents get a fully rounded picture of their unborn child.

However, proud parents will have to pay a lot for the privilege of the new pictures, with the scans expected to cost between £140 and £360.

More and more organisations and companies are beginning to embrace the multimedia uses of the newer models of the iPod.

A number of games have been released to be played on the music device, while US-based software developers recently launched new software which allows iPod users to listen to their PC's music content via the player's wireless internet capabilities.
