Another new game designed for use on the iPod has been made available through online music store iTunes.

PopCap Games' Peggle features 55 levels and 75 challenges for owners of the portable music player to test themselves while listening to their favourite tunes.

The game was originally launched on the internet and was downloaded more than ten million times, leading the games manufacturer to speed up the development of the iPod version.

Commenting on the release, PopCap co-founder said: "The clickwheel input of the iPod is a natural fit for controlling Peggle, so we knew this adaptation of the game would be amazing.

"And with the Duel Mode included, two players can pass the iPod back and forth while battling their way to Extreme Fever!"

The release of Peggle for the iPod has come a day after Sega revealed that a Sonic the Hedgehog game has been created for the portable player.

Available to download via iTunes, the platform game is priced at $4.99 (£2.50) and features gameplay and graphics similar to the game's look in its heyday on the Megadrive.
