A new iPod-compatible music system has been launched by Lars and Ivan with one key difference to other devices on the market.

The technology company's PA-40Ti Hybrid iPod Dock has been designed to boost a user's existing hi-fi system by increasing the amplification of their favourite tunes on their music player.

Available for around $342 (£167), the tube-based amplifier system also allows users to charge up their music players while listening to their music, reports Technabob.com.

Other features on the amplifier include volume controls, USB connectivity, a pre-amp for a subwoofer and a remote control.

The release of Lars and Ivan's latest design has come after another iPod speaker system on the market won a major design and engineering award in New York.

Vestalife's Ladybug, which is compatible with the iPod and the iPhone, was awarded in the Innovation Design and Engineering category at the CES Unveiled NY Press Preview.
