New protective casing which allows users to enjoy the look and feel of their iPod nano 3G without scratching it has been launched.

Tunewear's Tuneshell is a polycarbonate transparent covering for the music player which has been tailor-made to form an effective barrier between the iPod and general wear and tear.

According to MacWorld, the casing also allows users easy access to the dock connector, headphone jack and click wheel.

Retailing for around $19.95 (£10), the lightweight protective casing also comes with a lanyard for people who are regularly on the move.

Tunewear is an iPod accessory manufacturer that has made protective and decorative casings for a variety of Apple's music players.

The unveiling of its latest protective designs for the iPod nano 3G has come after rival iPod accessory company iWrap launched its latest range of skins for the music and video player.

iWrap's chief executive Tim Chaves claimed his company's new range has "a simple elegant design that deserves to be seen".
