A new range of cases for the iPod nano 3G made from aircraft-grade aluminium has been released.

Proporta's new Alu-Leather Sheepskin cases are available in a variety of colours and are handcrafted to suit the needs of both the 4GB and 8GB models of the portable music player, reports iLounge.

Expected to retail at around $35 (£17), the protective designs feature secure magnetic clasp closure and cutaways for access to the device's variety of controls, including the headphone jack and click wheel.

A designer of accessories for electronic devices including PDAs, mp3 players and smartphones, Proporta's unveiling of the innovative new casing designs has come several weeks after it launched a range of "classic" leather protective cases for the music players.

Created specifically for the iPod classic and iPod nano, the cases also feature similar features to the new design for the nano 3G.

The protective casings are expected to retail at $25.
