iPod touch problems to be combated

Apple has confirmed that problems with defective models of the new iPod touch will be dealt with.

As detailed by the Wall Street Journal's technology correspondent Walt Mossberg, "some early iPod touch units have had defective screens, where images appeared too dark".

The same fault was noted in iLounge's review of the iPod touch, with Jeremy Horwitz writing that a "noticeably downgraded screen exhibits problems such as inverted blacks and dead pixels, which detract from video viewing experience".

While Apple is yet to release an official statement concerning the problematic early models, Mr Mossberg writes that "Apple says this problem affected a small number of units and is being remedied".

Many users will eagerly await the confirmation of an official replacement policy, after several US consumers were angered at being charged a $30 to $40 restocking fee when complaining about the dark screen on the iPod touch.
