Nike+iPod Sport Kit hits the streets

The much anticipated collaboration between Nike and iPod hit the streets yesterday in the form of the Nike+iPod Sport Kit.

Consisting of a wireless sensor that fits into certain pairs of Nike shoes, the Nike+iPod gathers and sends data on the runners speed, calories burned and distance run to an iPod.

Costing £15, the kit is now available for purchase

"Nike+iPod is a partnership between two iconic, global brands with a shared passion for creating meaningful consumer product experiences through design and innovation," Nike CEO Mark Parker said.

"This is the first result, and Nike+iPod will change the way people run. Nike+iPod creates a better running experience. We see many more such Nike+ innovations in the future," he continued.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs likened the Nike+iPod Sport Kit to a personal coach or exercise partner that will motivate runners.

Nike has debuted its final TV advertisement for the World Cup, featuring Manchester United legend Eric Cantona and Brazilian striker Ronaldo.
