Apple is to launch a movie download service from iTunes, reveals The Business.
The successful digital online store is to expand into film download services, following an announcement expected form its chairman later this week.
The new download facility will allow Apple users to download movies onto their home computers and transfer them via the Apple Airport wireless connection to a iPod video or digital TV.
The move has been widely predicted for some time, since users can already download television programmes from iTunes, including classics such as Alfred Hitchcock Presents and The Office.
Analysts believe Steve Jobs, Apple's chief executive, is planning to announce further additions to the Apple catalogue to coincide with the iTunes movie capabilities.
One will be the unveiling of a new widescreen notebook computer, called the Macbook, which will be marked for its smaller size.
A new iPod dock is also expected, which will double up as a hi-fi system, according to website Think Secret.
The stereo will be Apple's first step into the world of iPod companion products states the website.
