Meet the iPod with the PhD

It might not always make you richer or more attractive to the opposite sex, but now the iPod can promise to make its users smarter.

Computer science lectures from Harvard's Extension School classes can now be accessed as a free podcast on iTunes, the Harvard Crimson reports.

Users have been able to access audio lectures since September, but now the service hopes to capitalise on the launch of iPod video by offering visual lectures.

The service is expected to be popular with users, combining the established student trick of recording lectures with the ever-increasing popularity of the iPod.

With a place on iTune's top 100 podcasts already in the digital bag, it seems that the trend for downloading lectures can only get bigger.
