She has come to symbolise the defining cultural product of the new millennium, but Mandy Coulton still can't afford an iPod.
Ms Coulton was the dancer whose bikini-clad silhouette helped Apple shift millions of iPods, but in a recent interview with the New York Post, she admitted she still can't afford to buy one.
The Los-Angeles based part-time model and dancer said she was paid $1,500 (£836) to pose for the advertising campaign.
"At the time, $1,500 seemed like a lot of money. But now my picture is everywhere," she told the New York Post.
"I would like one – but $400 (£220) for an iPod is just too much for me.
"I can't justify spending that much money when I have day-to-day stuff to pay for, like the car and the rent."
She is currently working part-time as a nanny while she waits to hit the big time.
